Artist Statement
I am a lover of shape and color. My work is a mixture of the real and the abstract, organic movement with solid, bold shapes. My mind is constantly energized by the environments around me. I get lost in observing the patterns of living things and how they relate to the spaces they create and inhabit. My work reflects how these patterns, images and relationships exist in both the natural world and the world we created for ourselves. I enjoy exploring shape and composition, and how these images flow from the mind to express the inevitable unity between nature and the perceptive soul. Through my work, I try to express the need for humans to open their eyes and return to what is important; mental and physiological health, love for all things living, and personal expression. I believe that a focus on both the miracles and imperfections on the outside of ourselves can be a huge factor in improving the internal, a skill I fear we may lose grasp of as time goes on.
